Collections and withdrawals

Manage the Centipid wallet

For ISPs with the Centipid wallet capability, Payments includes views for Payments, Collections, and Withdrawals. ISPs without it see the normal payment ledger only.

The wallet is offered to ISPs in Uganda that collect with Centipid Collections. Only administrators see it. Every view starts with a Wallet balance card: the amount available to withdraw. Amounts are in Ugandan shillings (UGX).

Collections

Collections represent qualifying customer money received into the wallet flow. Use the collection view to compare gross inflow, fees/adjustments where shown, status, subscriber/receipt context, and available balance.

The Collections view has five cards:

  • Collected: all confirmed collections to date;
  • Today: confirmed today;
  • This month: since the 1st;
  • Pending: awaiting confirmation;
  • Failed: not collected.

A collection is added to the balance as soon as the mobile-money provider confirms it. The list shows the latest 50 collections.

Do not equate the sum of every payment method with withdrawable wallet balance. Manual/offline methods and unsettled transactions may not fund the wallet.

Request a withdrawal

  1. Open the Withdrawals view/action.
  2. Review the current available amount and request a quote where provided.
  3. Enter an amount meeting the displayed minimum. The minimum is UGX 500 and the maximum is UGX 5,000,000 per withdrawal.
  4. Enter the recipient mobile-money number (required, maximum 32 characters).
  5. Enter the recipient name when useful (optional, maximum 120).
  6. Request the six-digit action OTP. OTP requests are rate-limited. The code is emailed to you and expires after 5 minutes. You can request 3 codes per 15 minutes, with 60 seconds between requests. After 5 wrong tries, request a new code.
  7. Review fees/net amount/recipient in the confirmation.
  8. Submit once and track the resulting withdrawal status.

Withdrawal fees

Fees are fixed amounts by band, not percentages. They come out of the amount you enter. The quote shows each fee and what the recipient receives.

Amount (UGX) iOtec fee Centipid fee
500 – 60,000 600 100
60,001 – 500,000 1,200 200
500,001 – 1,000,000 2,000 300
1,000,001 – 5,000,000 2,400 400

The recipient must receive more than zero after fees. So the smallest withdrawal that goes through is UGX 701. Only one withdrawal can be in progress at a time.

Status and reconciliation

Separate request acceptance, dispatch, provider processing, success, and failure. The Withdrawals view shows each status as pending, processing, success or failed. It has four cards: Paid out, This month, Active (pending or processing) and Failed. The list shows the latest 50 withdrawals. A pending withdrawal should not be resubmitted until its provider state is understood. Reconcile the wallet ledger with provider/bank settlement and the payment records that funded it.

Failed withdrawal

Read the failure reason and whether the failure is retryable. Confirm balance, recipient format, provider availability, and any earlier dispatch reference. Retry only through the supported action and never by creating a second manual payment/collection record. The retry action is limited to Centipid staff, so contact support with the withdrawal ID.

Security

  • Never share the action OTP.
  • If money goes to a new number within 7 days of an email or password change, the account owner gets an alert email.
  • Use an administrator account with 2FA.
  • Review staff finance permissions regularly.
  • Do not store recipient lists or OTPs in notes.
  • Escalate with the withdrawal ID/reference, status, timestamps, and sanitized error—not gateway secrets.
